Bushwalking Level 1 is a four (4) hour session and weekend course, where participants can add additional skills needed to safely lead members on bushwalking activities in controlled environments (e.g. tracked terrain)
Participation in this course does not guarantee you will be issued with the qualification as you must demonstrate you are competent in the required skills, which may require additional experience.
PREREQUISITES
Please ensure that you have completed the prerequisites BEFORE APPLYING FOR THIS COURSE:
a) Scouts Australia e-Learning Level 1 Common Core via https://training.scouts.com.au
b) Submit your Bushwalking Log book to, Paul Leicester: 100930@sa.scouts.com.au / Bob Ellis: bc.bushwalking@sa.scouts.com.au
TIME COMMITMENT
a) Available Saturday 27-Jun-2020 (8:30 – 12:30), Online
b) Available Saturday 01-Aug-2020 8:30 to Sunday 02-Aug-2020 15:00, for an overnight bushwalking activity.
c) Complete pre-course sections of the workbooks before Friday 10-Jul-2020
i) PUAOPE002B (If not already completed) Operate communications systems and equipment
ii) SISOBWG201A Demonstrate bushwalking skills in a controlled environment
iii) SISONAV201A Demonstrate navigation skills in a controlled environment
iv) SISOOPS202A (If not already completed) Use and maintain a temporary or overnight site
d) Complete bushwalk planning exercise before Friday 17-Jul-2020
This course is for navigation in controlled environments, tracked terrain, self-catered, camping overnight and BYO tent.
