What is Easter Venture?

Easter Venture 2025 is a four-day Branch competitive hike open to Venturers, older Scouts, and Guides. The aim of Easter Venture is to enjoy a four-day break, hiking with friends in a competitive environment.  

Be prepared to immerse yourself in a gaming adventure where the border between reality and gaming becomes blurred. You won't know what's real and what's just a game.

If you're up for the challenge, dust off the old game board, re-play your favourite video game, and get ready to play.

Can your team collect all the coins, collect all the resources, trade cards, be strategic, and play the game?

EV really is much more than just a hike.

Points are awarded for both hiking skill and theme awareness. Along the hike, there will be special activities staged where more points can be obtained if you complete the activity. At night, all Youth Participants will stay at designated camps where more activities will be provided. Your camping skills will be awarded points, which will count towards your overall score.   

Participants compete for an overall E.V. perpetual trophy. This trophy will go to the team who completes the most hiking checkpoints, complies with the theme in spirit and execution, completes activities along the way and can demonstrate good camping skills. 

Hike is the basis for this event, and points gained here are given a greater weight. Hike checkpoints are graded, and the most difficult have a higher point value. There are also trophies for Best Theme, Most Activity Points, Highest Camping Standard, Best Hike team (Day Pack and Full Pack), and Pick of the Teams.

Please Note:

Payment for Easter Venture 2025 must be completed online using this MyScout application immediately upon registration. Failure to pay upon registration may result in your application being wwithdrawn. You will not be able to attend without full payment being received.

Operoo Submission:

This will be sent out closer to the event once registrations have closed. Y4s will not be accepted for this event.  

Teams:

Easter Venture is a team event, with each team having between 4-7 participants. If you already have a team please create one when registering and let your other team members know the team name. Please also indicate if you are a daypack or fullpack team in the name, e.g. "Team Awesome (Daypack)". If you need a team please select "I need a team: daypack" or "I need a team: fullpack" when registering and we will help find a team for you.  

Scouts:

Registered Scouts over 13 years old who have sufficient bushwalking skills (stage 4 OAS Bushwalking or above) to complete a multi-day hike are invited to apply for Easter Venture as a daypack participant.  

Age Limit:

18-year old’s still within the Venturer section may participate but must sleep in separate tents during the event. They must have completed and submitted to Scouts SA a working with children check (WWCC), a national police certificate (NPC) and completed SP CHILD and SP WHS online training prior to the event and preferably before registering.  

Leaders:

All leaders at Easter Venture have assigned roles with the teams of Admin, Hike, Camp, First-aid, Theme, Communications and Activities. Please confirm your position with the relevant team before applying for EV. If you would like to participate but don't have an assigned role please email easterventure@sa.scouts.com.au and provide information on any relevant skills or qualifications.  

Refund Policy:

All withdrawals and requests for refund must be in writing.  

Withdrawal before the Closing Date: Full Refund  

Withdrawal more than 10 days before the event: Full refund less an administration charge  

Withdrawal 5 days or more before the event: Maximum of 50% refund, after pre-payments to suppliers have been considered  

Withdrawal less than 5 days before the event: No refund
