Details
Sailing is back in SA after a bit of a hiatus. In order to get back out on the water, we need youth members and adults who are looking to learn how to sail with the aim of completing a Trained Participant (Sailing Small Boats - Smooth and Partitially Smooth) qualification.
This weekend is aimed at Venturers, Rovers and Adult Members, with no previous sailing experience.
The cost of the weekend covers your meals from Friday supper to Sunday lunch and all required training materials. Accommodation is in the bunkrooms at Seahaven.
Participants need to be able to swim up to 50m while wearing a PFD.
Program Outcomes
Youth members can also use this weekend as evidence towards components of OAS Boating Stage 1-3 and OAS Sailing Stage 4.
Training Outcomes
Participants have the ability to complete all the requirements of Sailing Small Boats (Smooth and Partially Smooth) - Trained Participant.
Participants can also use this weekend as evidence towards a SAIT assessment for the following VET units:
• Sail small boats in smooth water and light to moderate wind conditions - SISOSAI001
• Perform basic water rescues - SISCAQU002
To enrol through SAIT to be assessed against the VET units, contact training@sa.scouts.com.au.
