Come along and cook some food outdoors. This is not a competition – it’s all about the book!
Open to Mawson district members in all sections: Joeys through to Adults. All SA Rovers are invited too. (Rovers don't belong to a district.) Enter as an individual, in pairs, patrols or even a whole unit working together! Why not form a patrol of leaders and parent helpers and show us how it is done!
Patrol Leader
Patrol leaders will be the person responsible for entering the recipe and patrol member names into Operoo.
Note: Patrols are called "Teams" in the registration portal. Choosing to be "Team Captain" is choosing to be a Patrol Leader.

Please note:
- Talk with your patrol to choose your arrival and departure time for the event based on how long your recipe takes to cook. We hope to stagger arrival times to avoid traffic congestion and wait times at check in. (see handbook for check-in & check-out desk open times)
- Tell your patrol leader how you would like your name printed in the book.
- We will photograph your patrol at check in so you will not be able to check in until all patrol members are present. Please wear your scout shirt and neckie for the photo.
- We will also be confirming you have the required safety equipment prior to checking you in so please have it ready to show us when you arrive. (refer to the handbook for details)
- The Woodhouse boom gate code on the day is included in the Operoo form. On arrival, enter this number into the keypad by the boom gate then drive up to the Brownsea activity shelter for check in. (see map in the handbook)
- Participants and their parents / caregivers should read the event handbook which can be found on the QStore website here:

PHOTOGRAPHY INVITATION OPEN TO ALL
As we have a large number of registrations and only a small number of participants joined the photography patrol, we are inviting all participants to bring a mobile phone or digital camera on the day to also take some photos of their own recipes if they wish. We are especially hoping to use photographs taken by youth members for the book.
1. If you intend to take photos, look at some recipe books and try taking pictures of food to see what type of photos look appealing. In the pictures you look at, notice the shadows and how the food was lit. Think about bringing a garnish, props or decorative plate for your recipe.
Not all photographs will be used in the book. Our youth led scout publishing team will select the photos they think are best.
ENJOY THE DAY
When planning your day, remember this is not a competition. There is no judge who will taste your food and we probably won’t know from the photo whether it was served hot or not. The idea is to create a recipe book and share our ideas for camp food. We want a beautiful photo of the finished food to entice others to make your recipe and clear instructions to tell them how to do it. Most importantly of all, we want you to have fun on the day!
USE OF PHOTOGRAPHS AND PARTICIPANT NAMES
Photographs will be taken on the day for use in the recipe book. These will include photographs of participants. The names of patrol members will be used in the book and will be written exactly as provided by the patrol leader on the recipe Operoo form. It is acceptable to use preferred names or nick names as desired. Please ensure your patrol leader knows your preference. Please contact events@sahq.scouts.com.au if you are unsure about the registration process or contact Christie Morrison for additional details about the event 230701@sa.scouts.com.au.
