New date due to cancellation of original course.
Course to be run on 27 February 2021 meeting at 12:30 on the river bank.
Onkaparinga River at Port Noarlunga. More directions will be forwarded once we receive your application.
This course is designed to maximise participants’ opportunity to learn, practice and demonstrate a range of techniques to cross rivers and produce a record for their evidence portfolio. To that end the majority of time will be spent wading back and forth across the river. However, before getting wet we will start by discussing the theory aspects of planning, organisation and safety associated with river crossings.
Along with an active logbook, this course is designed to cover the requirements of Apply River Crossing Skills (SISOBWG404A) or Cross rivers during bushwalks (SISOBWG004). Currently, this unit is only required for those holding a Level 3 bushwalking qualification, Guide - Bushwalking uncontrolled environments and Guide snow shoeing.
To gain the unit you will need to submit both your logbook with your completed workbook and participate in the practical workshop.
Leaders must currently hold a qualification as Guide Bushwalking Intermediate or Level 2 Bushwalking or equivalent.
The resources for this course can be found in the trainee resource folder:
This contains the workbook as well as some other resources.
